27. Henry: Fearlessly Fought Off Bear To Save Owner

Steven Krichbaum and his yellow Labrador mix dog, Henry, were attacked by a bear in George Washington National Forest. They were on their usual walk when the incident took place. To save his owner from the attack, the dog pounced at the bear and fought with it, buying time for Krichbaum to come up with an escape plan.

Krichbaum repeatedly hit the bear with a rock. The owner and the dog eventually escaped but had been mauled and bloodied by then. They were taken to a local hospital and treated for their injuries. There is no doubt that Henry’s bravery saved Krichbaum’s life that day.
