Cats are carnivores. But an occasional treat of veggies can be very beneficial for them. However, care should be taken in what to give and in what quantities. Potatoes, for instance, are a safe food for cats but only when appropriately cooked and given in small amounts.
Raw, uncooked potatoes contain toxins that are harmful to your cat’s health. One of these toxins is glycoalkaloid solanine, which can make your cat quite ill. You don’t have to do anything extra to cook the potatoes; simply boiling them will kill the harmful compounds.
